The current division 1 "plans" are currently "sent" to the Advising office. I don't like that idea. I would rather have them kept by the advisor in a file for each student. I don't think the Advising office is the right place for this kind of thing. I would rather see the adivising office monitoring advisors than students. So: Proposal 1-> Division 1 Plans should be kept by the advisor. Advisors must certify to the advising office each semester that they have filled out the Plan form with their advisees. This is really symbolic of the role the advising office plays. The real question is whether they should be monitoring students or advisors. I think their role as monitoring advisors is silly. They should not be doing it. Should they be watching out for bad advisors? Yes, I think so. Who else would do it?
