Agriculture, Dancing, Radical Education, and You This group will be an exciting educational experiment. We will spend some mornings planting crops to harvest through the fall. All members will have the opportunity to join an experiential, student-led sustainable agriculture class in the fall semester, researching and building cold-frames to protect our vegetables, and harvesting (+cooking!) them in November and December. The orientation group will also spend time dancing, hiking, making music, discussing Hampshire and the Radical Departure, and just plain hanging out and having a good time. This group is a part of the Radical Departure (RD), an experiment in education and community. Students who are interested in student-led classes, spontaneous education, or community living are encouraged to join a RD orientation group. Chris Kawecki will be in his final semester this fall. He has followed a crazy path through Hampshire, including work in physics, literature, education, computer science, agriculture, psychology, and pretty much everything else, too. He loves folk and partner dancing, bike racing, gardening, folk-music (bluegrass!), cooking, and especially excited humans. A leader in RD, he defines himself as a Hampshire radical and extends a special invitation to the students who come to Hampshire to creat and be a part of a radical living-learning experience. Feel free to contact him at (802) 728-5315, ckawecki@hampshire.edu or http://hampshire.edu/~cpkF92 regardless of whether or not you will be in his group. Matt Earls: "Hi. I am in my 6th year of college and finally graduating this semester. This means that I am doing my Div III (about concentration and attention), and that I have finished my Div II and four Div Is. I read too much as a child; now, I love to travel, rock climb, deprive myself of sleep, play chess, learn from others, play and listen to guitar (my listenting skills are better), and my dream is to graduate from Hampshire College."
