Jessica Burlingame (jessica_burlingame -- AT -- hotmail.com) has spent several years writing and editing for magazines, and reports, "I'm thoroughly disillusioned with publishing." But the spirit persists. Harkenening back to the days of yore, she remembered Winston Churchill standing at the commencement podium of a charming school in Massachusetts founded by an evangelist named Moody: 'Never Give Up, Never Give Up, Never Give Up!' Jessica is now beginning her studies at Columbia for her MBA degree, which according to plan should be awarded in 2003 to commemorate the 10th reunion of the class of 93.

Stuart Paap (stucat -- AT -- hotmail.com) has landed in LA, and volunteered to buy the first round of drinks for any other 93'ers in that Valley. "Bowling Night on Friday... Who's on?"

Speedy Amy Lyman (amylyman -- AT -- hotmail.com) wrote in; I don't know if she meant it to come out like this but she writes: "I figured I would write in to the class notes for once. That way our class can be well represented." (Hm... so Amy doesn't think we've been well represented without her...) But truly, I'd vote Amy for President in a second. She's been teaching special education in Boston and is in the process of moving to Amherst, MA "for good." And is she ever speedy... last year Amy qualified for and ran in the olympic trials for the 1500m. Pie race anyone?

Amy also shared the following news from other 93 alumns: "*Jed Byrom is in and out of Northfield and Asia (tough commute). Also I hear from *Galen Carr, who is working for the Red Sox, and loving it. I bumped into him at the Boston Beer Works last year, during some post game celebrations. I also just got an email from *Rachel Cade who is living and working in Philly. I ran into *Jay Ross and *Joy Sumberg over the holidays. Jay is in DC, and Joy is in the Boston area. Rumor has it Carrie Mccolgan is moving back to Mass form DC, but I have yet to find out for sure. I will get to the bottom of that." Let us know when you do, Amy! And finally, Amy mentioned that she had worked the 35K checkpoint of the Boston Marathon. She says she had some secret speed lotion which she was hoping to squirt at me when I ran by but when I "ran" by I was limping too sporatically and missed, hitting that speedy Korean runner instead. *Emily Beal Giza sent a computer virus to all her friends, and as reparation, I insisted on hearing how her marriage with Eric is going. (Couldn't be better, keep dreaming, she said.) Emily and Eric are living in Boston where Emily has finished her second year of law school: "We are living in an apartment with some outdoor space (so I just finished planting our garden!) Very relaxing. I like pretending I am not in a city every now and then. I am working at a firm downtown this summer and then taking off to Sweden for the fall to work in a international commercial firm. I am so excited to be abroad again, not having really travelled since college. *Nelly Praschma is in London working." Emily would love to hear from *Tim Pfeiffer and *Jared Porter(91). Your cosecretaries, Aaron DiRusso and I, had a chance to hang out with *Jason Stone(91) and *Juan Garcia (91) at NMH this spring.

*Erica Steckler reports that *Sarah Bixby just graduated from medical school down south, and is heading to Boston to do her residency. *Erica herself is still working at iBasis in Boston. And after her two marathons last year (Boston and Portland), she has also started racing triathlons. Inspired by that feat? Let me know your latest marathon results! After spending some time in Europe this spring, I've now settled in to Vermont living for a spell, with 3 chickens in the yard and lots of vegetables and flowers planted in the garden.

So, as always, write in with your news and poems. Don't forget, I reserve editorial license "for clarity" on issues of length and breadth, addition or removal or political viewpoints, modification or grammar and information, and last but not least, the replacement of truth with fiction to insure that we are well-represented in future columns... After all, remember my favorite saying: "There is nothing worse than a quote used out of context." Emerson.
