She Unwrapped Her Arms
by Peter Christopher
April, 2001
The moment
She unwrapped her arms
Was the moment
I fell in love.
She became a woman -
She became a beautiful woman.
You see,
Although we'd met,
and although we'd talked,
My eyes were still closed.
Perhaps because I am a young man
When I'd seen two gray hairs
I'd assume she
Was married.
As if a beautiful woman
with a Banjo
in an Airport
Would ever be interested in
a young man
with a homemade
wooden
meditation bench.
